AquaScreen® AquaScreen is the best available benthic barrier material
available today for meeting your bottom barrier needs. Aquatic
Weed Control is proud to be the exclusive retailer of AquaScreen for
all states west of the Mississippi River. Installation services
are performed exclusively by Aquatic Weed Control in Washington State,
Oregon, Idaho, and Northern California. AquaScreen can be installed by homeowners in shallow waters without special equipment. SCUBA diving gear is required in deeper water installations. Underwater securing devices are required to keep the barrier from shifting underwater. Detailed installation instructions and support will be provided to purchasers of AquaScreen from Aquatic Weed Control. AquaScreen is more dense than water, making it sink and preventing it from floating out of position. In addition, the barrier has excellent "breathing" capabilities which allows gases from decomposing biomass to pass through the barrier and escape to the surface. Other products used for bottom barriers to not have the same gas passing characteristics as AquaScreen. AquaScreen is durable and tear-resistant. AquaScreen material can last up to seven years if maintained property and installed securely. AquaScreen comes in rolls seven feet wide and 100 feet long. The rolls weigh about 34 pounds and can easily be shipped to customers with minimal cost. Other materials come on rolls 15 feet wide, are 360 feet long, and weigh over 250 pounds, making them impractical for simple homeowner installations. In addition, sand bags are needed to keep the barrier underwater, as the other materials float!
